The RobotHands remix is yet another of Jasper’s slow textural journeys through a dark wonderland of Lasers and Bass. Every one of his tracks is imbued with passion and emotion and takes the listener on an adventure through the mind of Jasper himself. Enjoy the new track and check out his Previous Features, especially his LazerSoul mix which I have previously mentioned, it is an absolute must-have from 2010. Make sure to grab the new Starkey EP as well when it comes out on December 6th!

NastyNasty – Special You

One of our most frequently featured artists, Jasper aka NastyNasty has released yet another batch of delicious tracks. In order to thank his fans for all their support contributing to the recent success of his tour, as well as the SoundCloud topping victory of his track Apologies, NastyNasty is giving away this 2 track set for free.

Special You is composed of two songs, Work Visa VIP and the Better Off Alone VIP. Both of these tracks are VIP versions of some of NastyNasty’s best early material, freshly remixed and ready to play. The new version of Work Visa is one of my favorite songs by NastyNasty so far, and Better Off Alone is definitly worth the download as well.

Realistically, everything released by NastyNasty is bound to be good. He understands the texture and quality of a bassline in a way no one else does, and his production quality is always crisp and perfect. NastyNasty is certainly one of the best, most outspoken producers on the scene today. Follow this guy on SoundCloud if you haven’t already!

NastyNasty – Apologies

Recently every track released by NastyNasty has been pure gold. I saw him live the day before Halloween as the opener for Eprom and Vibesquad….NastyNasty easily stole the show. If any of you ever have the chance to see him live, he is an excellent performance; his character perfectly matches his musical style and voice. His highly recognizable style consists primarily of the atypical and beautiful use of glitched out vocal samples, an uncanny knack for utilizing the slower tempo to develop intricate and unique sound textures, and a great ear for melodies that make you want to dance…

On that note, NastyNasty just released a track listed as a “rework wendy renee’s “After Laughter”” The track is named “Apologies”, and it is at the same time beautiful and extremely nasty. For your own good, listen to it now and enjoy a perfect example of all the great qualities I described above.

NastyNasty – Apologies:

Apologies by NastyNasty

The great glitched out vocals first come in at 1.17 and the typically delicious NastyNasty sound textures enter the track at 2.46. Everything about the track is amazing, artistically and for performance. I can’t wait to see him play again!

Beats Antique

“Growing like wildfire under the canopy of live electonica and world roots music comes a masterful merge of modern technology, live instrumentation and seductive performance, built of brass bands and glitch, string quartets and dubstep: the musical trio Beats Antique.

Since the group’s inception from the eclectic underground of San Francisco’s performance art scene, Beats Antique has been notorious for making it nearly impossible to sit still. They meld their mediums as attentively as they fuse the cultures that inspire their sound. All self produced and composed, the trio creates a unique collage: an animalistic, raw musical event that blurs the lines between the provocative, the spiritual, and the artistic, while still maintaining an allegiance to the muses of class and beauty.” – Beats Antique Bio-Page

So far in over three years of creating amazing music Beats Antique has released 3 albums and a pair of EPs. The newest Album„ Blind Threshold, just came out a few weeks ago and is available through the Beats Antique BandCamp. “Notable features of the new release include vaporous violins and Danny Elfman-esque dementia; glitchy, laser-guided harmonica provided by Blues Traveler frontman John Popper; and 2 very different vocal tracks that range between restless pop hooks and vibrant Eastern European dance loops. All wrapped into an intricate collection of heavy beats and sub bass.”

Beats Antique also just released two Halloween/Dia De Los Muertos tracks, which can be downloaded now for free!

Thriftworks aka Jake Atlas (SF) just released a free 20 track album titled “Hermetic Thriftology”. Not only is the album free, it’s an absolute must-have from the 2010 electronic/bass movement. Thriftworks‘ style is a unique blend of dubby noises, hip hop beats, and some groovy left-field vibes. The album covers a wide spectrum of style and emotion and really has something unique and beautiful to offer anyone.

In my previous feature of An-Ten-Nae, you may have already heard a sample of Thriftworks work in the Rook remix of Jakes “Get the Lectroid” on the Acid Crunk Volume 3 compilation album. Thriftworks is on the verge of something big, and you should all take this chance to participate in it!

Check out these highlights from Hermetic Thriftology and if you like them swing by his BandCamp and download the album in 320 for free!

Thriftwork Track on Acid Crunk Vol 3

Curious about the name Thriftwork? “Jake rocks Logic 9, his homie’s Virus synth, borrowed monitors, an organ he found in a parking garage, a borrowed piece of shit turntable, and cables and records that he found at thriftstores or on street corners. Hence the name “Thriftworks” came about because he realized most of his gear was either borrowed or found. As he says, everything else comes used from Craigslist!” – IAMLASER Blog Feature

An*Ten*Nae is one of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized setup, that bends genres in ways seldom heard. This sound is called Acid Crunk, and there are no rules, no restraints in its quest for a pure sound that is not Homogenized. 2010 also sees the birth of An*Ten*Nae “The Live Experience”, featuring an audio visual barrage including live drums and synths combined with dramatic theatrical and visual stimulation. Welcome to the future, and no it wont be televised.” – AN-TEN-NAE  SoundCloud

In the recent past An-Ten-Nae has put out two new albums, their original/remix album Acid Crunk EP 7, and of course the well-publicized exclusive compilation album Acid Crunk Volume 3. Both of these albums are well worth the purchase, and if the total album cost is too much, you can always get the individual tracks that really strike a chord with you. I’d be more than happy to reccomend a few favorites: Priceless, Get The Lectroid, and Funkin Lovely. The whole album is great though and really does a wonderful job giving an overview of who is rocking the scene at the moment. Yet another job well done by Muti Music superstar An-Ten-Nae.

Shipwrek at Colorado College!

So this is it, the first post. The current strategy is to start posting and design the site as we go. This will work for a start, and the URL might change as we upgrade and move along. I hope that everyone will agree that first and foremost, getting the music out is priority #1.

For the first artist feature we have Shipwrek, an brilliant new producer out of San Francisco, California. He has released one album, Journal, and another is in the process of being mastered now. Give him a listen, and if you want a chance to see him live, he is performing at Colorado College on October 23.

You can listen to his entire first album here: and it is available for purchase as well. I highly recommend it, and the album art that comes with it is excellent.

Link to the event is here:
