An*Ten*Nae is one of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized setup, that bends genres in ways seldom heard. This sound is called Acid Crunk, and there are no rules, no restraints in its quest for a pure sound that is not Homogenized. 2010 also sees the birth of An*Ten*Nae “The Live Experience”, featuring an audio visual barrage including live drums and synths combined with dramatic theatrical and visual stimulation. Welcome to the future, and no it wont be televised.” – AN-TEN-NAE  SoundCloud

In the recent past An-Ten-Nae has put out two new albums, their original/remix album Acid Crunk EP 7, and of course the well-publicized exclusive compilation album Acid Crunk Volume 3. Both of these albums are well worth the purchase, and if the total album cost is too much, you can always get the individual tracks that really strike a chord with you. I’d be more than happy to reccomend a few favorites: Priceless, Get The Lectroid, and Funkin Lovely. The whole album is great though and really does a wonderful job giving an overview of who is rocking the scene at the moment. Yet another job well done by Muti Music superstar An-Ten-Nae.

Acid Crunk Volume 3:

  • Soom T & Disrupt – Dirty Money (An-ten-nae Remix)
  • Professor Nalepa vs It’s Not Over Quebec – Unrest
  • Thriftworks – Get The Lectroid (Rook Remix)  **(Great Track)
  • Knight Riderz – Turn It Up
  • Marty Party – Sassy
  • An-ten-nae – So High
  • Lorn – Toilet
  • Lunice – Solution
  • Love & Light – Funkin Lovely  (GREAT track)
  • Blunt Instrument – Battle Toad
  • Mimosa – Customs
  • Sidecar Tommy – Bump Box
  • Random Rab – The Desert Flux
  • Opiuo & Jay Wikid – Panty Slingshot
  • NastyNasty – Priceless    *** Possibly favorite song on the album
  • FuzZ – Doom

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, “Emancipator played his first live show in July 2009, opening for Bonobo at the Roseland Theater (cap. 1500). Since then, he’s toured with Bassnectar, STS9, Pretty Lights, drawn crowds at festivals like Trinumeral and Symbiosis, and closed out Sound Tribe Sector 9’s late night parties in Denver at the request of the band…Emancipator’s agile melodies layered over headnodic, immaculately-produced beats captivated fans across the internet and across the world.”

“His latest album “Safe In The Steep Cliffs” blends new instrumentation and organic samples with the signature Emancipator style of clean production, silky melodies and addictive drums. Dense layers of choirs, horns, American folk instruments such as the banjo and mandolin, violin and some distinct Asian influences make for a playful but refined album built out of intricate tracks listeners can enjoy on as many levels as they want. Dance to it, chill out to it, immerse your mind in it.” – Emancipator Homepage

Emancipator’s production is crisp and beautiful, a seamless meld of organic beats and instrumentation combined with beautiful downtempo melodies. While very unique and different from the music usually featured on this site, checking out Emancipator is an absolute must.

“Formed as the music brainchild of Curt Heiny and Justin Aubuchon, Archnemesis creates its distinct sound by combining original music with samples ranging from early 20’s blues and jazz to modern hip-hop and soul.” – Archnemesis Homepage

Archnemesis recently released their first EP, “Diamonds and Glass”, and as a gesture of good faith, they are giving it away for free. I’d do the talking for them, but they say it far more elegantly than me:

“We are very excited and proud to give you “Diamonds and Glass,” our first office release. When we decided that we wanted it to be an EP, the first question was “How do we get across the Archnemesis sound in 5 songs?” After contemplating, we decided to give you an EP where each song was stylistically different, but with some common elements weaving their way through each one. We are going to be giving away “Diamonds and Glass” to you as a free download. All we ask in return is that you spread the music to your friends and we see all of you at our shows We hope you enjoy “Diamonds and Glass.” It was made for you. See everybody soon…..”

I’m sharing it with you, I hope you all share it with your friends as well. Grab the Free “Diamonds and Glass” EP now and I’ll see you at some shows!

iONiK: Subsynthesis 2010 Promo Mix

Another great up-and-coming DJ out of our very own Colorado. iONik (Ian Ker-Seymer) can most easily be placed in the Glitch-Hop genre, but, like everyone else worth listening to, his take on the genre is completely unique. His remixes don’t just change the tempo of a song or harshly juxtapose a familiar vocal with a new beat, he transforms songs into glitchy new tracks equally at home in headphones and on the dance floor. Be it his Originals or his Remixes, this Boulder DJ is releasing a lot of killer tracks.

For a great overview of his music and style check out his free 2010 SubSynthesis Promo Mix. (Big thank you to Ian for the Mix, Job well done man!)

Also, pay the Ionik SoundCloud a visit and download all of his free tracks, they are well worth the effort it takes to click the link!

Also, I figured out how to embed SoundCloud tracks into Tumblr. Hurray! These are some of my favorites:

Fresh2Death AKA Girlfriend Bull5hit

Fresh2Death is a Colorado electronic duo comprised of both of the previously featured artists, Greg Fisk and Ben Samples. Between Samples and Fisk, the group has a combined 12 years of DJ/Producing experience. Fresh2Death accentuates a wide spectrum of genres; Producing and remixing anywhere from Glitch-Hop, PsyHop, and Crunk-Hop, to the occasional DownTempo, Electro, or Dubstep track, Fisk & Samples are at the forefront of the Bass Culture sound. FRESH2DEATH a.k.a GirlFriend BullShit is also now currently involved with the Denver Bass Squad, a collaboration of DJ’s, Musicians, Producers, & Remixers all based out of the Front Range of Colorado.

As one of the few formalized collaborative projects, Fresh2Death brings a consistent energy to their live performances that many solo projects lack. I highly encourage everyone to check out both of their SoundClouds as well as listen to the Live in Austin Fresh2Death set. Fortunately for all of you, the set is free, so download away!
